【MANAGONA】《MANAGONA》1st Album

MANAGONA’s core concept is the intersection of music, sound art and visual technology; the focus is on creating a unique contemporary musical experience through interdisciplinary collaboration. Founding members of MANAGONA Lee Mao-Sung and Cheng Wan-Yi  are both graduates of Conservatoire de Versailles, France.The band members have professional backgrounds in different genres, and freely navigate between independent music and classical music.

As the debut work of MANAGONA, the eponymous album “MANAGONA” begins with percussion, intentionally leading the listener into an altered sonic reality through the seamless fusion of acoustic instruments and electronic sounds.

Our music is built around weaving rhythms and addresses the struggles of humanity encountering the abyss, expressed through minimalist abstract techniques. Such is the listening experience we want to convey to the audience; whether through physical response or through perceptions that engage the uncharted territory of the soul, one can establish a pure sensory 

connection with the music and find resonance within it.

From the moment we first encountered the works of minimalist composer Terry Riley, MANAGONA was struck by an undeniable jolt of inspiration. This prompted us to delve further into Riley’s work from the 1960s, as well as the works of stochastic music composer Iannis Xenakis (1979). These artists have become the foundation for our musical creation and stylistic exploration.

Our first completed work was conceived and created through improvisation, resulting in an organic and technological music style which covers a multitude of contemporary music tropes and experimental sounds, while unveiling the prelude to MANAGONA's techno chic.
