|《Hidden Album》
專輯同名曲 〈Hidden Album〉 在工業風的激情重拍中,展開 〈Snow in Osaka〉 與 〈Summer Air〉 的陰鬱 IDM 心碎獨舞,逐漸釋然至英倫懷舊感的可愛擔當 〈Beach Cat〉,〈ok to be not ok〉 獻給自傷者的搖滾樂,終至 〈So in love with you〉 在夏日的銅管交錯中與回憶和解,盛放鮮豔色彩。
Our Shame’s sophomore album, Hidden Album, plays on a double entendre, “the hidden album on your phone” and “the secret track you weren’t supposed to find.” The Taiwanese folktronica duo approach it like wallflowers at an underground rave, documenting the unspeakable with a quiet but unflinching lens. Built on a foundation of folktronica and synth-pop, their palette stretches from acoustic guitars and field recordings to splashes of Trip-hop, UK Garage and techno.
The record lingers in society’s shadowy corners: self-harm, forbidden love, crypto-fueled assassinations, addiction—memories that don’t make it to the public but thrive in the collective unconscious. Produced by Estelle H. (aka 小凹), Hidden Album ropes in an eclectic cast: Grammy-winner Jay Reynolds (Fred again..’s go-to engineer), Japanese rapper ASOBOiSM, French electro act Odd People Club, award-winning soundman Brian Elgin, and Taiwanese R&B star BRADD.
Hidden Album touches off from the jungle-like opener “Face ID” and the trippy starlit haze of “A Star” then extends into the maze-like crypto investigation of “Miffy” and the ideal-driven parting journey of “Hollywood Dream,” with images of tangled lovers in “此刻的畢生摯愛.” Industrial pulses drive the title track, before IDM heartbreak dances through “Snow in Osaka” and “Summer Air.” The mood eventually softens with the Brit-nostalgic cuteness of “Beach Cat” and the rock catharsis of “ok to be not ok,” before closing with “So in love with you,” a brass-kissed summer confession that feels like making peace with old wounds.
On Hidden Album, Our Shame fuse European hedonism with an Asian sense of shame. Even the album art, designed by Blob Club, plays with secrecy fluorescent graffiti techniques that only appear briefly when rubbed, like memories surfacing from the hidden gallery of your phone ,and the ambiguous situations females face in the society.
